The Main Goal

In Trois, you will determine whether there are three cards in play that match. Each of the compared traits must be either all matching or all distinct.

Your goal is to select three cards based on their four traits:

SHAPE (Triangle, Rectangle, Oval),

COLOUR (Green, Orange, Purple),

COUNT (One, Two, Three),

FILL (Hollow, Shaded, Solid),

Example One

The following three cards are a match, because each of the four traits are all matching or all distinct.

Matching

Colour: Green.

Count: One.

Fill: Hollow.

Distinct

Shape: All different.

Example Two

The following three cards are a match, because each of the four traits are all matching or all distinct.

Matching

Colour: Green.

Distinct

Fill: Hollow, Shaded, Solid.

Count: One, Two, and Three.

Shape: All different.

Example Three

The following three cards are NOT a match, because each of the four traits are NOT all matching or all distinct.

The Fill on each of the three cards is not distinct or matching. All three cards must be distinct or matching on all four traits in order to be accepted as a match.
